Driving from Scottsdale to Sedona is about a 2-hour drive through an
expanse of desert with mountains filling the background trying to
encroach on the space. As the elevation rises, we feel the pressure on
our eardrums causing the popping sensation. The congestion of the
roads let us know we are about to arrive to our destination! This city
welcomes those wishing to traverse across mountains, through shops,
or sit in a restaurant with a view. Regardless, it is a mecca for all types
of globetrotters.
Let’s talk about the panoramic scenery, there’s nothing shy about Sedona.
Sedona is downright obnoxious about its beauty, and frankly it
has every right to be.
You don’t have to hike, bike or search for these picturesque surroundings, if there is daylight, its splendor is exposed. Temperatures are 10 – 15 degrees cooler, with limpid blue skies, adding to this enchanting encounter.
After checking into the motel, we headed to a local bike shop, Thunder
Mountain, to look at bike rentals. Establishing type of bikes and trails
suitable for SELECT people, EASY please! We also inquired about hiking
trails, again suitable for SELECTS, I mean these are serious mountains,
extremely rocky. I know I preach don’t live old, but, be cautiously
smart, we want many more years of adventures!
Waking up with the sun, we headed to our trailhead. Perfect temp of 70
degrees at 6 in the morning. My goodness, how do I describe these
surroundings. The bright rusted red covers the ground, stretching up to
the sky in massive formations of rock mountains. Adding textures of sand, stumbling into pebbles, to smooth flat slat slabs, all in this gorgeous color. Some glittery, some a flat matte finish and some a normal rock surface. Greenery is strategically placed amongst the red,
involving various cacti, trees, even pines. Small purple wild flowers
graced our sense of smell with a delicate fragrance. We felt as though
we had stumbled into someone’s meticulously designed private garden,
realizing though only God could architect such beauty.
Hoping so badly we could share this with are family through photos and
videos through text or Marco polo, but my phone just can’t capture the
brilliance of the colors. Well, maybe, possibly, hopefully they all can
visit us…….if we snowbird here! Remember, experience life’s treasures
and Don’t live old.
