A Birds Eye View

Sedona is a hiker’s and mountain biker’s paradise. I read it is known as
the best place to mountain bike in the U.S., possibly in the world. That
being said, these trails are a bit daunting for us. We did ride for two
days, pushing our bikes through trappy, rocky sections, it was fun but,
my shoulders were sore from tensing up! So, we deciding to focus on
hiking, still being cautious on our choice of trails.
Looking up as we hiked, two common black hawks gracefully soared
through the sky. The back drop of the brilliant red rock, exhibiting their
black wing span, never a flutter, just gliding, almost hovering there. I
looked up with wonder as the bright blue sky exposed this.
Taking inthis unparalleled sight, I’m curious what the two hawks must see; what is a bird’s eye view? Cruising along ,so high, with an unlimited field of vision, no restrictions on time, as they behold all that is beneath them.
Are they searching for prey tucked in the cliffs of the red rock, possibly
a mouse or a lizard? Does it just feel good as the Arizona sun warms
their backs? Maybe they see the large cluster of Prickly Pear cacti at the
base of the mountain, sitting there like an attentive audience. Waiting
to burst into applause with their plate shaped leaves, for they too are
astonished at the splendor surrounding them. I ponder, is a bird’s eye
view superior to my view? It just doesn’t seem possible.
What a blessing this trip has been, spend time outside, it’s good for
your soul. Don’t live old.
