This morning I went for my dental check-up and teeth cleaning. How quickly 6 months roles around, especially at age 67! According to the hygienist, my teeth are doing great. Again, at age 67, its always good to hear something on my body is great!
My first couple instructions, turn to right, face me, chin down, etc. needed to be repeated, till the hygienist realized she would have to speak loudly. In my defense, she was sporting 2 masks and a face shield. I understand, they are right there in the potent germs of our mouths, but it does hinder communication, unless you have fresh young ears.
As the dentist entered the room, he spoke in a clear, booming voice, causing me to wonder, is my chart now marked, "Speak loudly and clearly to this lady."
Talking with my friend afterwards, laughing about this and the humorous side of aging, she shared a great story. At her last hair appointment, she mentioned being 67 years old. The stylist gasped, commenting that she didn’t look that old. My friend telling me “Although I was flattered, she thought I didn’t show my age, I’m not sure how I feel about my age being gasp worthy.” We both had a good laugh.
I came home walked a couple miles on our trails, had a healthy smoothie, then rode my fat tire bike through our trails. I am aging, I will continue to find the humor in aging, but I won’t live old.
